Different arrangements from last year’s concert. The Overworld Theme replaced the medley of Zelda I and II music. Instead of a full arrangement of Malon’s Theme (which was played during the encore last year), there was a medley of Link’s Awakening during the first movement. There was also a new Spirit Tracks medley to replace the Majora’s Mask medley. Gerudo Valley got bumped from the encore to the beginning of the second movement, and the Skyward Sword medley got bumped to the encore. The Philadelphia Orchestra had a new lead flautist who sounded stronger and had clearer intonation than last year’s flautist. While I missed hearing the NES dungeon themes in orchestral glory, I’m still thrilled I decided to attend this year. I highly recommend any serious orchestral or Zelda fan “play” this Second Quest.
And most of the people in the audience were too darn young to even know what a Second Quest is. Darn kids needs to play an NES.
This will be my second year in a row going. It was fantastic the first time, and I have no doubt it will be just as fantastic tonight.
Wish me luck with hitting on the Princess Zelda cosplayers. I wish they’d release a concert CD because the arrangements are so much different - and so much better - than the CD that came with Skyward Sword.
So which of you awesome geeks and audiophiles will I see there?
If there isn’t something like this in the sequel to Wreck it Ralph i’m going to be really disappointed.
